Are you interested in improving your interpersonal and group facilitation skills while helping children learn about the healthy eating habits? The Lighthouse Community Centre is looking for a volunteer facilitator for the Healthy Cooking for Kids program, which will run from Monday, March 16th to Thursday, March 19th, 2015 (10am-2pm).
Healthy Cooking for Kids provides the Vietnamese children with a fun cooking experience during March Break at The Lighthouse. Children will learn basic nutrition concepts, and cooking skills including food preparation, food handling and safety. Participants will learn to create their own recipes and cook delicious meals. With a balance of fun and learning, this program will help children develop healthy eating habits.
What is the role of the facilitator?
The facilitator will work together with other volunteers to facilitate the children’s learning process through games, activities and positive interactions. The facilitator will attend a 2 day training prior to the start the program.
What are the required qualifications?
-18 years old or older
-Fluent in English (writing and speaking)
–Be able to work with a team
-A passion working with children
-A sense of humour and playfulness
-Basic knowledge of nutrition
-Police check required
