Coldest Night of the Year is happening TOMORROW!

icon_5Here are 8 Ways to make your WALK day great — enjoy!

1. Have a snack before you head out.
You’ve got a long journey ahead of you. There will be snacks along the way, people to cheer you on, and a yummy meal at the finish line, but you’ll want to fuel up before you start.

2. Check the weather
What are you wearing tomorrow? Looks like it will be about -10 tomorrow evening. Dress warm!

3. Make a check list and share it with your fellow walkers

4. Arrive early
Give yourself extra time to find a place to park, get registered, find your team, communicate with a lost team member, and be ready for opening ceremonies.

5. Take a team photo
Even if everyone on your team is walking different distances or travelling at different speeds, taking a team photo before you head out helps everyone feel part of something bigger.

6. Tweet and Facebook along the way. Use hashtag #CNOY
There is something so fun about watching the buzz in 64 locations across Canada, everyone wearing the same toques, and walking for the hungry, the homeless, and the hurting. You’ll have all of your friends and followers cheering you on along the way.

7. Thank a volunteer
WALK day couldn’t happen volunteers there to register, welcome teams, cook the post-WALK meal, cheer us on at rest stops, route marshal, drive sweep vehicles, etc. Help them feel part of something bigger by thanking them for making WALK Day possible.

8. Remember why you’re walking
When you’re part way through, the sleet is pelting you in the face, your legs are cramping, and your socks are soaked through, remember what it’s all about. You are walking for the hungry, homeless and hurting in your community.

See you tomorrow! Registration begins at 4pm!
