Vietnamese Program Assistant

The Lighthouse is a non-profit Christian agency that provides community services to people in the Greater Area of Toronto. The Vietnamese Assistant will assist the Vietnamese Counsellor and Program Coordinator with administrative tasks, outreach and program coordination.

Responsibilities:

  • Administration:
  1. Assist with administration
  2. Contact clients for appointments and to follow-up when necessary
  3. Assist in translating materials from English into Vietnamese
  4. Prepare correspondences when required

 

  • Outreach:
  1. Assist with publicity including developing promotional materials such as flyers, pamphlet; and contacting media and community agencies advertise Lighthouse services/programs, and/or events
  2. Outreach to the community to inform them of services/programs and other events.
  3. Working in collaboration with other community agencies to organize community events.
  4. Assist the Vietnamese Counsellor and Program Coordinator to explore the opportunities to expand The Lighthouse services/programs for the Vietnamese in other areas of the GTA.

 

  • Program Coordination:
  1. Assist in planning and organizing workshops, support groups, and/or special events.
  2. Assist in planning, and organizing the Family Summer Day Camp and Kids’ March Break Program. The Assistant will be required to work full time for the week of the delivery of the program.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Preferably a Bachelor Degree or undergraduate in Social Work, or a College Diploma in Community Development Worker, Social Service Worker, Human Services Counsellor, or experience in these related fields.
  2. Evidence of Christian belief and practice, and church affiliation
  3. Fluent in Vietnamese and English both verbal and written. This is an asset.
  4. Excellent computer skills
  5. Excellent planning and organizing skills
  6. Strong team work skills

 

Accountability:

  1. Expected to work 10 – 12 hours per week
  2. Report directly to the Vietnamese Counsellor and Program Coordinator
